When the Seldom Scene first got together in 1971 in a basement in Bethesda, Maryland, their progressive bluegrass style, which included bluegrass versions of country music, rock, and pop, went on to become increasingly popular during the 1970s.

Since then, the band has gone through numerous lineup changes, but the quality of their music endures! The current band has been together the longest in Seldom Scene history, and for good reason... With an inventive take on bluegrass, the Seldom Scene has displayed both their original material and their interpretations of songs from limitless genres.
